I want to ask you a question. When was the last time you dreamed big? I mean really big??
We are at the beginning of a brand new year so I imagine many of you have spent some time recently imagining and planning out your year — maybe you’ve set some big goals to accomplish this year, maybe you’ve even created a Vision board to help you bring those dreams to life.
What I’m talking about today is BiGGER than what you can imagine for just this year.
I think it’s really important to push our imagination to the farthest limits it will go and really visualize the biggest dreams we can think.
Here is a journal exercise I want to give you today: Write down the biggest version of your dream you can imagine. If money, time, logistics, and knowledge were not a factor — how BIG would you like to dream? What would your life and business look like?
I want to encourage you to go crazy here. Write down the most ludicrous version you can dream up.
I did this exercise recently and after my first draft, I realized I wasn’t dreaming big enough. I was still playing small.
So I did the exercise again and allowed myself to really go wild with what my life & business could look like if I just let my imagination take over and dream crazy big.
Chances are — if you are anything like me — the first time you do this exercise, you’ll realize you are playing small, too.
And here’s the thing. When you realize you are playing small in your dreams, it wakes you up to all the ways you are playing small in real life.
And playing small keeps you from really living to your full potential. It keeps you from taking big risks to enjoy giant rewards.
It keeps you from sharing your story and being proud of what you’ve accomplished, which means you are holding back from sharing that story from someone else and inspiring them.
When I look at my own BIG DREAM EXERCISE, it feels a little scary. It’s like, wow — what if I actually did all of those things?!?! What if I actually lived this life? How rich and rewarding this would feel!!! (YES!) ...
And that’s the point -- If your dreams don’t scare you, you are not dreaming big enough. Go back to the drawing board and dream a bigger dream.
Now here comes the REALLY scary part. I think what helps these BIG SCARY DREAMS come true is when we make our dreams known publicly to someone else. We articulate the truth in what we are dreaming.
So the 2nd part of this exercise is to share your BIG SCARY DREAM with someone else.
You know me…. I’m always going to push you to share your story in some way — and by sharing your biggest dreams with other people is a form of you sharing your story.
I’m going to lead the way today….. I have my own BIG FAT SCARY DREAM written down and I’m sharing it today inside the LIGHTbeamers Community…. and I’m going to open up a thread to encourage other people to share their big dream exercise.
I love holding space for other women to push themselves beyond their current reality — and see what is possible when you let your story unfold with wild abandon.
Let’s go crazy with our dreams.
